What’s Really Happening in Corona

Citizens, business owners, nonprofits, and faith communities are paying more than ever in taxes and utilities — and getting less in return: more debt, and redevelopment plans that displace the very people who built this city.

We believe in a Corona shaped by its people — not by private developers.

  • In 2020, voters passed Measure X to strengthen emergency response, clean parks, and safer neighborhoods.
  • Instead, City Hall diverted millions into bonds and payroll expansions — while violent crime rose and utility bills skyrocketed.

Now, City Council is pushing a $200 million redevelopment plan in Downtown Corona that risks displacing small businesses, nonprofits, and families.

Behind the talk of “revitalization,” here’s what’s really happening:

  • Families face record-high water and sewer bills after eight straight years of increases.
  • Trusted nonprofits — from the YMCA to United Way — are being forced out of community spaces.
  • Local small businesses — many Latino-owned — are being displaced without a survival plan.
  • Meanwhile, city leaders raised their own pay while adding $110+ million in new pension debt.

Who Is Being Impacted

Their plan hits hardest in neighborhoods long left out of City Hall’s decisions:

Small businesses and nonprofits serving long-time residents are being displaced.

Public spaces like City Park are being turned into fee-based facilities.

A $35 million road narrowing will worsen traffic and pollution along Sixth Street.

Secret land deals and NDAs erode transparency and destroy public trust.

Water Rates

Together, we ask for:

  1. Stop displacing small businesses, nonprofits, and faith-based groups that serve long-time residents.
  2. Release a full public audit of redevelopment spending, land transfers, and bond debt approved by the current council.
  3. Guarantee inclusive planning with residents, small businesses, nonprofits, and faith leaders at the table — not backroom deals with developers.
  4. Ensure free and equitable access to parks and community amenities — no paywalls on public spaces.
  5. Protect and support community nonprofits through relocation assistance or viable long-term alternatives.

Our Vision

We’re fighting for a Corona rooted in:

  • Transparency in government

  • Safety for families

  • Fiscal responsibility for taxpayers

  • Respect for the small businesses, nonprofits, and families who built this city

Together, we can protect the heart of Corona — and bring in new leadership that listens to its people, not developers.
